Old Testament Verse: God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear. Psalm 46:12
New Testament Verse: Whenever I am weak, then I am strong. 2 Corinthians 12:10
Prayer: Dear Father of our Lord Jesus, too often I dwell on my weaknesses, hardships, and troubles. Although it is difficult to pray this, I thank you for those times. In the midst of them, I am compelled to take refuge in you. Then I dont need to be afraid, because I know that you are my strength. Amen.

We encourage you to pray as Luther prayed, and to take a T.R.I.P. in the word!

12 June 2011 -- Sermon -- Farewell PDF Print

Pastor Robin's last sermon was titled "Farewell."  Scripture lessons included Acts 2:1-21, and 1 Corinthians 12:3b-13.

Nathan apologizes for the tardiness of this being posted to the website (almost 3 months late).  It took a while to actually get the recording, and then it took a while to figure out the details such as what week and bulletin to reference.

Please right click on the following link, and select 'Save-as' to download the sermon directly to your computer.

Mission 2012 IS NOW! PDF Print

    NOW is the time!!!!

Peggi has received notice from Praying Pelican Missions that it is time to make our first installment payment for the Belize mission trip.  Each person going on the trip needs to have the first $250.00 turned in by September 1st.  For those of you that have been fund raising-please let Peggi know if you would like to apply the money you have earned toward this installment or save it to use later.

Most that are going have given a $50.00 deposit and that will be part of this payment.  If you paid a $50.00 deposit, you need to only send in $200.00 at this time.  For those of you that have been undecided-now is the time to make the commitment.
Please arrange your finances as necessary and submit your 1st installment payment to Peggi Potter (checks written to Mission Belize) by September 1.
If anyone is wanting to go on this trip and finds that the financing is more than you can bear, please talk to Peggi.  We have been doing some fund raising and we may be able to assist you.
Getting this first payment in and knowing that we are only 6 months from going makes it all seem more real.  The excitement is building!
It is not too late to invite friends, family or others to go along.
Also, please begin thinking about what type of mission work you would like to do on this trip.  We can virtually do about anything we would like to do!

You can see more about the trip at www.prayingpelicanmissions.org

Other fund raising activities will be scheduled at Sychar in the coming months.  All those that help with the projects will divide the profits toward their trip.

Where does Sychar Lutheran Church get its name? PDF Print

When Pastor Teber O. Hill arrived in 1953 to organize the congregation, a lady came to him asking if she could teach Sunday school. She felt if she would take an active role, her son would go to Sunday school with her. The Sunday school superintendent felt this was a bit risky, knowing the reputation this woman had. Pastor Hill preached a very passionate sermon the following Sunday.

He used the Gospel of John, 4th chapter, as his text. Jesus was traveling through Samaria and came to Jacob's well near the town of Sychar to rest. A Samaritan woman of shady character came to the well to draw water. Jesus asked her for a drink. She was startled, and this started their dialogue. She found the “Living Water” and rushed back to the village forgetting her water pot to tell everyone about her encounter. “Can this be the Messiah?” she asked. And the towns people went out to see for themselves. Many of the Samaritans from that village committed themselves to Him because of the woman's witness.

That's why we have the name Sychar. We invite people of all races, all ages, and social status to come to the Well where they will taste the “Living Water” and go to bring others who are thirsty to that same Well.
