Coming of Age ConferencesYoung men from the ages of 18 to 35 are missing in the church today. Lutheran Men in Mission, in partnership with the Youth and Family Institute is networking with leaders and congregations across the United States to promote understanding of and outreach to younger men.
The Coming of Age Conferences will take place at Christ Lutheran Church in Charlotte, NC September 15, St. Matthews Lutheran Church in Beaverton, OR October 23-24 and Bethlehem Lutheran Church in St. Cloud, MN November 16-17.
The Coming of Age Conference will help congregational leaders learn about younger men and how to connect with them in their daily lives and faith journeys. Keynote presentations will be based on the major findings from the Coming of Age research and will be delivered by authors Paul Hill and David Anderson and Lutheran Men in Mission Director Doug Haugen. Workshops will explore specific interactive strategies how to connect with younger men in a meaningful way. Resources will help congregations, families, and individuals make a significant difference in the lives and faith of younger men.
Coming of Age Conference participants will: - Gain an understanding of the seven areas of men's identity and spiritual lives identified in the Coming of Age research. - Identify resources to reach out to younger men in a meaningful and transformational way. - Learn strategies that engage younger men in a ways that support their character and faith formation. - Inspire the Church to come of age with efforts to reach younger men with the Good News of Jesus Christ.
The Coming of Age Conferences are co-sponsored by Lutheran Men in Mission/ELCA and the Youth and Family Institute. They are made possible in part through a generous grant from Thrivent Financial for Lutherans.
