Sometimes what we get on the major news channels isn't necessarily what we, as christians, need to hear. For instance the following doesn't usually make headline news:
- Persecution of christians in other countries, and in our own
- City and state government employees forcefully removing 'The Ten Commandments', but happily installing footwashing stations for muslim believers
- The general errosion of christian values in our society - essentially calling evil good and good evil.
- Faithful service to others in the name of Christ
- 'Positive' news towards Israel
We at Sychar don't pretend to be experts, or even experienced, in all of these topics. We do, however, believe that at times we should be reminded of these topics, and how they matter to us all. One day the books of Daniel and Revelation will reach their conclusions and none of this will matter any more. Until that day comes, part of our job description as christians is to fight the good fight and be a light in the darkness. We may feel ill-equiped to make much of a difference. We may want to be like Jonah or Moses and try to avoid our calling. Please consider reading up on some of the following websites and learn. Learn what to pray for. Learn what to pray against. Learn what to prayerfully DO to make the world more like Jesus would like us to make it.
